A narrative short that unfolds through glimpses of the chain of events, “Trompe L’Oeil” charts the tragic arcs of a closeted gay male in a Christian conservative milieu, his wife, his meth-addicted younger lover, and her lover, a family friend and parishioner at their local church. Literally meaning “To Fool the Eye,” the story illustrates the immense weight of societal and religious pressure and the irreparable damage of living a double life. |
