Weddell seals live only in Antarctica and are the southernmost breeding mammal on Earth. The population of Weddell seals in Erebus Bay of Antarctica’s Ross Sea face a major environmental event when a huge iceberg blocks access to their pupping colonies. In one of the longest running studies ever of a long-lived mammal population, scientists study the effects and outcome of this massive iceberg event on this population of Weddell moms and pups.
