Mr. Mortimer is detained at his office one evening, and his wife, one of the worrying kind, imagines that he has been set upon by desperadoes, struck down by an automobile and badly mangled and brought to a hospital, where they mistreat him. She again vainly tries to get him on the telephone, but as the repairman has the wires disconnected, she cannot reach him. She is about to let her mind launch off into another fantasy when her husband comes home safe and sound and tells her everything. |
