Details:

In this animated documentary, World War II veteran Joseph Robertson tells son-in-law John Fish, Jr. about fighting for the Allies at the Battle of the Bulge, Hitler’s last major offensive. Amidst fierce combat and harsh winter weather, both the Germans and the Allies suffered heavy casualties. But Mr. Robertson has never been able to forget one young soldier he killed there. In July, 2005, he recorded this memory through StoryCorps, the national oral history project. Joseph Robertson, 86, joined the National Guard in 1935. During World War II, he served in Europe as part of the 30th Infantry Division. In 1961, after 26 years of service in the Army, Joseph Robertson retired.
