A bonding company sends an investigator to China to find out if one of its clients actually stole $7,000,000 worth of gold as claimed by the supposed owner. He is soon involved in a series of murders and intrigues involving a man posing as the client, the client’s wife and the man who claims ownership of the stolen gold. Many plot machinations follow before those who had seen all this before and know where it is going are told by the writers what they already knew. The only surprise here is that since the film is in B&W and involves crime, somebody hasn’t slipped this into the film noir genre, since the current definition and only criterior seems to be B&W and crime. |
