I thought DeNiro was excellent in this. Well, he’s excellent in pretty much everything he does, but I mean it was a different character than I’ve seen him play before.
It’s a film about honor and pride and overcoming obstacles. But it’s also about egos and stuck, inflexible thinking - that human characteristic that will end life on this planet someday. It goes beyond racism, though that’s certainly part of it.

Not a film I liked back in the day however this is a rather good movie, one of Cuba’s better roles and De Niro played a sound role too, lovely conclusion.
