In 1960s Germany, the novelist Gunter Grass led artists, poets and musicians on a mini-bus tour of the country, engaging local people in political debate. Reviving this idea for the 2014 Scottish Independence Referendum, the artists on board the 2014 Bus Party spent a week in May traveling around Scotland discussing the question (regardless of how one may vote) of ‘What kind of future Scotland do we want?’ This film documents the sixteen events, from Orkney to Stirling, as the artists, poets, musicians and writers on board performed and engaged in dialogue with the audiences on their ‘Listening Lugs’ tour. |
