Kwon Moon, a 27 year old Korean film enthusiast, has decided to leave his life behind and start a new life in Sarajevo where he wants to study film directing. Upon his arrival, he was faced with several cultural shocks and differences, confusing him and intriguing him at the same time. One of the biggest cultural shocks was when he was walking in the streets of Old Town and saw an older gypsy woman begging on the street with her little child. This type of social standard differs greatly from the ones in Korea and it inspired Kwon to start writing a screenplay for a short film related to the topic. In doing so, he was faced with many obstacles such as finding the proper actors for the job, getting approval from his professors and finding the funding, crew and necessary equipment to do the job. We follow Kwon in his struggles to make this film happen sooner or later, while watching him build a personal life in Sarajevo and adapt to the new lifestyle. This is all happening simultaneously as we follow newscasts about the critical situation in Korea and how Kwon deals with it when keeping in touch with his family. |
