Many patriotic Americans have taken up the cause of defending their country during the Second World War. The most obvious are those that have enlisted into active duty. But those at home can also play their part and make some money in the process, by purchasing defense bonds and stamps. The bonds yield a 30% return over ten years. The proceeds of the sale of these items go not only into direct defense items such as fighter planes but also items that help the American economy function during the time of war, such as infrastructure. The end goal is to protect the American way of life. |
