Details:

Fact-based story about 300 predominantly black sailors who were killed on July 17, 1944 while loading munitions on a ship in San Francisco. Three weeks later, 50 survivors were court-martialed for refusing to load another shipment. The men cited the Navy’s lack of care for their safety.

This was another tragic Naval incident that took place during WWII and I believe it took place at the Concord Weapons Depot in Concord, CA which is located in The SF Bay Area. I remember passing by that installation as a little kid on the way up to the Russian River area and thinking how cool the weapons bunkers all looked from the outside while driving by
