This offering seems to have almost nothing to do with the other two movies in the series. There sure could have been a lot more backstory given—-and it would have made things a lot more interesting IMO. A very slight, passing mention of a couple of earlier characters is about the only thing that connects these films. Think of “Jaws 3” and its place (or lack thereof) in the series, and you’ll know what I mean about franchise continuity.
