Roopa Thakur lives a wealthy lifestyle in Mumbai, along with her husband, Yash; his brother and Bhabhi, Shanti, and their son, Ajay. Roopa wants Ajay to wed her niece, Shalini, but Ajay is in love with Kamini Chopra. Roopa and Yash are childless and their business continues to suffer heavy losses. Things only get worse when a fire destroys part of their factory. Before they could recover the money from the insurance company, the workers go on an indefinite strike, and the State Bank of India decides to foreclose on it’s loan. Yash turns to alcohol while his brother assists him financially. Roopa turns to religion and prays day and night so that things turn around. Her religious zeal turn the rest of the family against her so much so that she feels threatened that they are out to kill her. Things get worse when she finds out that Yash is having an affair with Dolly, and re-locates to get religious advice from Poona-based Swami Prakash Anand - with disastrous results. |
