Lydia has never been her father’s favorite, that was her sister Diana, but three years ago Diana was killed in action while serving in the United States Army. Now she must move her father in with her and her family, but there isn’t room for all of his and Diana’s stuff. During the garage sale, she and her father remember Diana and argue about whether her possessions should be sold in that way. Eventually, after her father moves in, she realizes that her own daughter has become her father’s favorite, and the memory of Diana will live on through a set of Nancy Drew books he used to read to them.
