Agioupa, an unruly orphan girl, sleeps in the fields, choosing the company of the birds to her fellow villagers. Thus, she is often raped by the peasants. A doctor, who feels pity for her, offers her a place to stay, but Agioupa leaves when she finds out that he is in love with another woman. Two peasants who want to rape her get into a fight, and one of them is killed. The peasants consider her a witch and lynch her. |
