Kennedy’s slacker brother-in-law makes himself particularly annoying to Edgar by playing mindless chords on the family’s out-of-tune piano. His goal is to frustrate Edgar so much with his obnoxious behavior that he’ll buy an engagement ring for his ditzy fiancée Sirena. This way he can get married and get out of what’s left of Edgar’s hair by moving out. That’s an offer even the parsimimious Kennedy can’t refuse, so he reluctantly digs deep and pays $175 for a modest wedding ring for the happy couple. However, the jeweler calls and explains that Edgar mistakenly took a $2000 ring, and if it’s not immediately returned, he’ll have to come up with the price difference or face legal consequences. In order to get the ring back, Florence drugs Sirena with sleeping pills as Edgar repossess the ring, but in his haste he drops it in the yard where it is swallowed by an evidently famished chicken. When it flies over the fence of the neighboring chicken farm, Edgar soon discovers to his frustration that all white chickens look alike. |
