In Washington Heights NY two worlds are about to collide. Elizabeth’s life goes into a tailspin when she finds her husband in bed with her best friend while at the same time her sister Maria flees to Santo Domingo in an attempt to ditch her jealous and abusive boyfriend, leaving Elizabeth in charge of running a business she knows nothing about, Maria’s Beauty Salon. Just up the block, Jean-Luis, the new sensation of New York’s restaurateurs and a consummate womanizer is about to open his new restaurant on the same block as Maria’s Beauty Salon. These two worlds collide with with unexpected comic consequences. Songs from Dominican popular music from the last 30 years are interwoven in the story as characters sing and dance to illustrate their mood and move forward the story.
