The Monk Seal, Monhachus monachus is the most endangered sea mammal of the world and this is the story of a cub learning to survive in its environment around the Desert Islands close to Madeira and learning about the near extinction of its kind. With the slow recovery of the species, close encounters with people in Madeira are becoming more frequent and the goal of the film is to provide information about monk seals to a broad audience and to raise awareness about conservation issues in an entertaining way. |
