Among my all time favorites: subtle, complex, disturbing, with pains taking execution, as you’d expect from Haneke.

This film is stunningly good - It is beautiful and disturbing in equal measure (i.e., a later-period Michael Haneke film). Set in a small village in Germany between the wars it links the harshly punitive nature of the outcome of WWI to the horror that was to come in WWII.
