I’m not really a horror genre movie person, but I like thrillers. I don’t think this is a horror movie. Horrors are mostly absurd; someone’s nightmarish ideas put into film. This, however, could, for the most part, actually happen. In fact, there is a real life case that is similar, and the adopted “girl” has even managed to fool Dr.Phil. There’s a lot of important information that can be extracted from dental work, pardon the pun. Thank you, uploaders.
I came here to see if anyone had mentioned the recent media coverage of the real case. Scary and creepy, eh? I watched some of her interview with her new weird adoptive parents and didn’t buy a word they said. I hope the original adopters aren’t found guilty of their charges.
what is her name DF? don’t think i’ve heard this news story, wouldn’t mind googling it myself..would appreciate it?
The girl is called Natalia Grace, and her first adoptive American parents are Michael and Kristen Barnett. It’s a very interesting case to read about.
Please, do tell us.
She smartened up after she got to their home because she had burned bridges with other families and the jig was up. She had adult teeth at “8” years old for crying out loud. I’d like to see what Paul Ekman would say about her micro expressions and have him do a deception analysis on her. I think she’s a very good liar. And I hope those people are exonerated, too.
It’s not just the teeth thing that I found odd. You could even excuse the results of the bone density testing she had due to her medical conditions. But the fact she, apparently, arrived from the Ukraine as a 5-year-old child, went through at least 30 other families in a matter of a few weeks before being adopted - unseen - by the Barnett’s at age 6; with no accent and full grasp of the English language. Yeah, right, lol.
She was hospitalized in a mental health facility for a while, and released by medical professionals to continue living alone in an apartment for about 2 years It’s just stranger than fiction.
He’s pretty good at it, but Ekman is even better. Plus, it’d be another, independent analysis. I think Doc was duped in this case. I don’t always agree with him, and he did have that Jack Trimarco from the FBI for many years doing the polygraphs, which can be beaten, but Jack was excellent at it. He passed away last year, though.
Yes, he is still a Dr. Not an MD, but a Ph.D. He does not have a licence to practice psychology In the state of California and he retired his licence in Texas in years ago, but he is not practicing psychology on TV. But, like dozens of the professors I worked with, he still has a Ph.D. He just isn’t teaching in a classroom; he’s hosting a TV show now. Ph.D means he can use Dr. It does not mean he practices medicine, dentistry, or therapeutic psychology.
I like his show. lol
It’s ok, but not everyone would know you were kidding, and they might be helped by some of the things he recommends or suggests, especially regarding children and bringing strangers into the home (I was a single mom and never brought one single man home nor stayed at a man’s house overnight). So I think it’s good to know that he is qualified, even though he isn’t always right (no one is) and like everyone else, he too has his own inherent biases and human nature flaws. 😊
Dr. Phil has a doctorate in psychology, so to say he is just playing a doctor is incorrect.
He no longer holds a doctorate in psychology due to numerous ethic violations. dudes a creep.
He still holds the doctorate, regardless. I googled Dr. Phil, Odie, and he’s not so bad. No ethic violations. Has helped a lot of folks down the line.
