Gorreti begins a romance with Ciaran, at her evening Irish-language class. When Ciaran is arrested by the British army, Goretti realises that she is pregnant and her world begins to crumble. She desperately tries to contact Ciaran in prison but, since she writes in Irish, her letters are not allowed through to him. |
