RRMXiii (Raccoon Remix 3) is the third installment in a re-appropriation series that began in 2012. It is a cultural and political commentary on the internet, by the internet, and for the internet. The pieces use quick cuts, which resonate with the viewers’ subconscious. Images range from beautiful landscapes to the horrors of modern warfare. The trilogy spans time periods, ranging from Native Americans to drone warfare. The videos also show the universe on a number of levels, from microscopic organisms, to the animal and plant world, to the cosmos, and eventually ethereal or spiritual states of consciousness. Questions concerning technology and its morality are also apparent contrasted with purer forms of nature and its possibly inherent evil. The trilogy is a homage to the aesthetics of film and video over the decades, as well. The videos at their most basic level are a highly stimulating onslaught of image and sound. |
