In 1990, it was 50 years since Bugs Bunny first appeared on film in a recognizable form and outwitted hunter Elmer Fudd. To commemorate the subsequent half-century-long career of the most famous cartoon rabbit in history, this prime-time television special was produced and featured several Hollywood stars stating their affection and admiration for Bugs, intercut with clips from various of Bugs’ cartoons and comments by legendary cartoon directors Chuck Jones and Friz Freleng. A tribute was also made to the late Mel Blanc, the voice of Bugs and countless other cartoon characters. |
