“The Spacecraft Diaries” is a life log filmed from the perspective of a smart phone camera. In this film, the perspective of the filming person and the perspective of the camera are not identical. The camera does not represent my viewpoint or myself, but rather an ‘other’, who is descrying me. I decide, to be a servant to the camera, I devote myself to the camera. By this, on rare occasions, I have encounters with things I did not know at all, things that go beyond my imagination. Then, the power relationship between the filmed subject and myself is reversed, and what appears in the film is my own self, updated by the ‘other’ which is the camera. This film is a documentary of myself, filmed from the perspective of a smart phone camera, continuously updated by an ‘other’. |
