Sugarhill presents a brief history of the hip-hop movement. Beginning with memories from the late 70’s and continuing to present day, the film intends to add a personalized chapter of meaning to this evolving genre. Through the use of text, web video, and data moshing, childhood memories collide with commercial marketing strategies to underscore the expanding relevance of the medium. Sugarhill is both a tribute and critique of hip-hop as an art form and an industry. |
