Visualisations based on Eric Betzig’s Nobel-winning work for the development of super-resolved fluorescence microscopy. This tomographic technique uses light-sheets to provide a highly detailed, three-dimensional, animated view of the microscopic world revealing a groundbreaking picture of complex cellular processes and forms. The recordings of biological processes using this technique were recreated as 3d simulation experiments. The piece explores the self-reflective and ubiquitous nature of simulations that are so intrinsic to scientific understanding. |
