Powerful and provoking, Escape From Capture is a masterpiece. It is a fiery piece that uncovers pertinent information left out of history books. Writer/director Atif Lanier of HarMageddo Entertainment has incorporated truth and history into this revelatory piece. It is entertainment and a history lesson rolled into one, which speaks of the plight of African slaves and mental slavery that exists in Black America today. Lanier attests that all slaves were not passive and this idea is greatly affected through the character Jemmy Imagine being a free black man in America in 1850 then being tricked into slavery. What emotions would you feel? What would you do? Naturally, Jemmy hungered for freedom, but this time would be different. Being on the other side of freedom made Jemmy realize that freedom was meaningless when his people were still in chains Jemmy refused to believe the idea that blacks would receive their rewards in the afterlife. He wanted freedom and he would do anything to get it, even if it meant leading a revolt. As Moses led his people out of bondage so would Jemmy. |
