RIP Shelley Duvall so far the one and only live action version of Olive Oyl.

magically_delicious 3 points 7 months ago.

She had a lot of truly iconically strange and wonderful films. I’m sad to learn this.

hellsingfan01 3 points 7 months ago.

Yeah same here but 75 isn’t a bad age to go out on.

NoelCoyotebleu 2 points 7 months ago.

Gads! I’m pushing 74, and not quite ready to throw in the towel! lol I’m pretty well preserved. Rest in Love, Miss Duvall

magically_delicious 1 points 7 months ago.

75 is not old and she was suffering with severe complications from diabetes for over a decade. It’s not a good old age at all, but I understand your perspective. She’s been missed for a long time due to her ill health. RIP

hellsingfan01 2 points 7 months ago.

Had no idea that she was ill that is so sad.

magically_delicious 3 points 7 months ago.

Her partner states she was suffering for a very long time and her death, although tragic, freed her. Very sad. I agree.

yellow_rose1 1 points 7 months ago.

75 is a long life when diabetes is not under control. Most die before the age of 65.

magically_delicious 1 points 7 months ago.

Agreed completely, but the comment I was replying to was not aware of her disease or complications and was only communicating that 75 is old in general. I disagree with that, due to my experience with 75 year olds that can run circles around people half their age. It’s all relative and subjective. Thanks for speaking up. 😊

yellow_rose1 1 points 7 months ago.

Well thank you for thanking me. I apologize for commenting on a statement when I didn’t get the entire context. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.😉

And she did so well in this. If another live action Olive Oyl is to be attempted, they have a lot to live up to.

It’s ironic that they had no idea what they had in Williams and kept him so restrained, I suspect that Duvall and Williams would have had better chemistry if they had let Williams be a bit more Williams.

There’s also the question of what stage of mental health/unhealth he was in during filming as well. Maybe trying to be his old self but medicated out, or his brain desease could of been acting up ..now i’m curious and freaking love RW !

magically_delicious 2 points 7 months ago.

This is 1980, two years into Mork and Mindy and decades before his diagnosis.

I still listen to this sound track absolutely still one of my favorites

Arcangel2020 2 points 7 months ago.

I remember when this movie came out in the movie theaters when I was a kid. I remember going up to the box office to get a ticket for the afternoon matinee showing and it was sold out and so I decided to go and see “Flash Gordon” instead.

augusts1 2 points 7 months ago.

I saw it in the theater when it came out. I recall thinking ‘what a bizarre movie’. I wasn’t into offbeat movies then. I should give it another watch & see what I think now 44 yrs later.

The Shining!

yellow_rose1 2 points 7 months ago*.

She was a wonderfully talented lady. Not a beautiful starlet like most Hollywood actresses. That is what I loved about her. It made her a more convincing actress for one. RIP Shelley you are at peace now. God bless you too

NoelCoyotebleu 1 points 7 months ago.

True! I like lot’s of British shows, because they use regular people.

yellow_rose1 1 points 7 months ago.

Oh me too. Have you watched ladybird ladybird with Chrissy Rock? It is an incredible movie

NoelCoyotebleu 1 points 7 months ago.

Thanks for the message/link How is your pooch?

yellow_rose1 1 points 7 months ago.

Awe thanks for asking, that means so much to me. He has his bad and good days still more good and until it’s all bad days we will just keep him comfortable. He knocked out so many teeth when he developed the neurological disease in January from some really bad falls. He’s doesn’t take bad falls anymore, He’s almost all the way blind and doesn’t hear very well. However his appetite is still really good. I just going to give his best life until I can’t anymore. Loads of spoiling with good food and love. I hope all is well with you and your family. Enjoy the rest of your weekend xo
