24-year-old kindergarten teacher Dorothy, born, raised, and still working in Harlem, is celebrating Thanksgiving with her extended family, but she doesn’t seem to be thankful for much. She lives a sheltered life and is shy and unfulfilled. When she gets caught in a snowstorm while chasing her dog Toto, they’re transported to the mysterious Land of Oz, where she’s informed that the only way she can find her way home is through the assistance of the powerful wizard in the Emerald City. As she searches for him by easing down the Yellow Brick Road, she befriends some creatures who face problems in their lives. In their quest to find the wizard, they also face Evillene, the equally evil sister of Evermean, the wicked witch whom Dorothy inadvertently killed when she arrived in Oz; Evillene might be their biggest obstacle. |

This was a huge failure at the box office. I remember I watch this on T.V when I was very young. I wasn’t a huge Michael Jackson fan yet but I loved Richard Pryor. I didn’t enjoy it as much as the real Wizard of Oz but I remember enjoying Michaels singing the most. You can’t get out of the game is still one of my favorites of his. It was a movie I watched alone in my parents bedroom on the little tv they had because they are staunch Montreal Canadians fans and wouldn’t miss a game if their lives depended on it. The movie scared me more than anything. I was only maybe nine years old when I watch it for the first time. This second time around, I really can’t understand why it was a huge failure. The music is popping, the dancing is entertaining, The costumes are a little tacky but that isn’t a massive failure. I’m enjoying it today and Michael is so young, way before all the plastic surgery. He is a handsome young man.
