What was once shocking is now quite boring. This movie offers mild thrills but the pacing and tone is inconsistent. There’s a completely ridiculous B-plot about a couple of Barney Fife characters which is so deliberately goofy it undermines the rest of the film.
It may have worked in the era of exploitation films, when audience expectations were low, but Wes Craven would never have gotten any recognition had he started in the streaming era where even low-budget films manage to demonstrate some semblance of production value and storytelling. Luckily for Craven he received minor recognition for this work and managed to subsequently extricate himself from the porn industry where he got his start. In my opinion his freshman effort was sophomoric at best, and would recommend probably any of his other films over this one, even the bad ones.
