Inspired by Dostoevsky’s The Double and the Night of December, Der Doppelganger features a mysterious young man dressed in white, who is trapped by a dark-looking viola teacher, and the hypnotizing music of Marin Marais performed by her pupil in the Hotel de Soubise, where he will meet with his doppelganger. But does his dark double really exist, or is he just a projection of his schizophrenic, narcissistic self? |
