The plot here is simple and has been done in several movies in the past, but it gets going and holds one’s interest pretty well. One thing I have to say I liked is, this movie, unlike dozens made these days, does not rely on/overuse the damn cellphones. You don’t spend the entire movie reading text messages! The phone is there as the tool it should be if needed, NOT as a star of the whole movie in its own right. I miss movies where phones weren’t saviors, deus ex machinas, or plot-advancers.
Butler brings a realistic, if somewhat dumb, character to life. The wife was vapid, and her parents were caricatures, sadly. I had my own idea what the actual hook of the tale was going to be, but it wasn’t quite what I envisioned. Decent, though, IMO, so give it a go.
C’mon Butler! That was a horrible, low-budget movie. Don’t do that again!
