The clouds gently nestle against the picturesque rocks, a lama lazily chews until a cry suddenly breaks the silence: “Gooor!” A group of women threw their arms in the air, cheering. “With every goal we would like to laugh for ten minutes,” said Juana Estrada Huamán. She is a defender on the football team in Churubamba, a small Andean village. Every day she plays football at 3,850 meters with two dozen other farmers. For her, soccer is fun, excitement and also an escape from her everyday life of field work, animal husbandry, household and child care.
