In February 2018 a Portuguese daily radio program celebrated its 52 years of existence. The protagonist of this event, José Duarte (Lisbon, 1938), dedicated his life to the dissemination of jazz, a musical genre considered by many to be unpopular, unknown, nihilistic and profane. What motivated a citizen of a small country who loves other musical traditions to nurture a program called “Five minutes of Jazz” for more than five decades? Directed by Jorge Paixão da Costa, the documentary intends to illustrate and honor something unique, impressive and unusual for a Portugal outside the jazz circuit. |
