This cinematic short film is a poetic and visceral expression of the contemporary abstraction of unmanned flight, the new reality of constant surveillance and our broader love affair with new technology. Loosely structured around the myth of Icarus, ‘A Drone Opera’ becomes the lens through which to view our contemporary fascination with technology and our hubris about its potential. At key moments, fragments from Ovid’s ‘The Fall of Icarus’ are sung to drive a loose narrative of desire, fear and destruction. |
