During WWII the Japanese forced prisioners to walk 100 kilometers until many of them died. They were starved, beaten, and brutalized until somewhere between 5000 and 18000 prisioners perished along what became known as the March of Death.
In this story which takes place in the Philippines in the area where the death march occurred, a female police officer is accompanying a high-ranking criminal who is scheduled to testify against a group of drug lords. An ambush takes place by corrupt police and she is left for dead. She survives and excapes into the forrest. Wounded and fleeing for her life from the brutal thugs who are hunting her down she is helped by a young indigenous girl she meets in the forrest.
The story is well written although the dialogue is a bit cliche at times. The acting is top-notch. The special effects and gunshot wounds are excellent.
This is a moving story and a great offering from the Philippines movie industry. Well worth watching. Two thunbs up!
