Seeking the Spirit is a documentary about a group of Celestial Church of Christ practitioners who meet on Rockaway Beach, New York to worship nightly for one month between the hours of midnight and 6 am. Originally from the Republic of Benin, this denomination incorporates elements of Yoruba and Islam into their practice and from a distance resembles Vodou or Santeria, two religions which can also be traced back to Western Africa, sharing the same religious and cultural influences. |
