The Mental Traveller meditates on the passing of time, habitual thought patterns and sensorial realities of five men who call a psychiatric ward home. This experimental film was precipitated by director Taiki Sakpisit’s journey with family and close friends who suffered brushes with death, dementia and hallucination, and his desire for catharsis. Shot in the Chanthaburi Province, this depiction of trauma also recalls the turbulent years of political upheavals in Thailand. |
