The extravagant settings and aerial footage are the best part of this movie unfortunately. It does have decent acting but the scooby doo plot and lackluster dialogue make for a complete yawn-fest.
Good movie to fall asleep to though.
I enjoy a lovely short story and this movie (a low key mystery) was designed and performed with superb simplicity.
View without pre-conceived notions and have a cup of tea! Seriously, not a soda and popcorn moment. Definitely wine/cheese; Tea w/biscuits and crumpets for sure. ha ha! Enjoy your Cinema Time!
Hey, i was excited to watch ‘Miss Willoughby and the Haunted Bookshop’ when i realised it had the wonderful Kelsey Grammar in it, but sadly i was disappointed by this rather poor movie. It’s all very British in the way it’s made and might’ve been better in fact if it was set in the 1930s. The story is incredibly thin and i knew exactly what was going on too fast as it’s such a small cast.. when there’s only 5 or 6 protagonists it’s hardly a thriller or a ‘mystery’ when the plot is obvious from the start. It’s a well-made bit of ‘theatre’ like watching an old-fashioned repertory company at work.. not enough substance for a movie though. The acting is somewhat lacklustre and even KG couldn’t lift my spirits. Most of the sets and settings are really old English country-houses around the city of Oxford. some of the interiors are stunning. So if you fancy a rather plodding old drama with great sets, well here you are. I couldn’t help but feel it should’ve been a LOT better. 2/5
