Rising Heartbeats is an experimental and sensual exploration of the human experience. In a world in which emotions are govern-mentally forbidden; peculiar and exclusive parties are appearing in the upper echelons of society, allowing those fortunate enough to receive an invite to experience feeling again. Attending one of these, Bartolomeo, an influential journalist, snaps into existence from the heavy thud of his rising heartbeat and discovers a carnival of the carnal senses. Kalì, elegant, charming and with magnetic eyes, leads him on a whirlwind tour through the mansion that houses the party. There, Bartolomeo faces his past and discovers that dealing with trauma seems impossible in a world that does not allow for emotions. She guides him on a revealing journey, exploring his own mind, through rooms designed to arouse each human sense. Lost in the dive through the ocean of his mind, can he find what he’s looking for without losing who he is? Incapable of feeling anything, can he distinguish what is real? Ultimately, how far will he go to feel alive, again? Rising Heartbeats will make you feel shame, fear and desire, in a numb society where is not allowed to have a heartbeat. |
