Christ and fascists and Frankenstein! Oh my!
Take note Disney, this is how you do a remake. Del Toro has taken an oft-told tale and made it his own. The stop-motion animation is the best I’ve ever seen. Not a fan of musicals, but this was so seamlessly and beautifully done that I couldn’t imagine it any other way.
Themes of love, loss, redemption and acceptance dressed with familiar Del Toro topics of Catholocism, fascism, and a nod to his love of Frankenstein make for a film that gives you much to unpack, but it’s well worth the effort.

The clay animation with some enhancements makes this a must watch. They did a great job. Just the textures alone are…”Creating link to click on so you can read more”
