Mildly taken aback, but not so much so at snap judgement on the overall statement this story was conveying against women. {{{sigh}}} Moverall, well done. Men love to speak for women but barely identify with any accuracy (not always) but generally and pathetically accepted as absolute Truth. Hence why mysogeny is so easily tolerated and and moreso, used as a perfect, see thought requirement for blatwnt exercises in this media. Hard pass… HÁRD HÁRD HÁRD pass combined with Run far far away.
“ Men love to speak for women but barely identify with any accuracy”
I agree, but you do know that Ilana Glazer co-created this movie AND co-wrote this script, right??
Gee, do you think she was making a point??? Duhhh.
Meh, first 2/3rds of the movie was boring AF. Last act had a lot of potential but you can tell that the writers/producers chickened out in the end. First, she left the nurse and her doctor alive. I can’t really empathize very well with her, thanks to being male and a little ways down the ASD spectrum, but it seems to me she would be a LOT more angry and destructive, or at least more angry, depressed and self-destructive. But come on, it’s not like anyone really takes a high road here, and he’ll just clean up the office and start rebuilding, so ultimately she accomplishes nothing. Second, if the writers wanted us to approach what I imagine her emotional state was - to really drive the message home, that is - her fantasy about getting rid of the two babies the doctor “gave” her should have been something closer to a scene of her jumping out the window with the two infants (CGI maybe, or holding dolls but that usually looks too fake). Watching them “fly away to Heaven” was not very scary (or even thriller-y).
This felt a lot like some Ozzie style movies I’ve seen. I even checked afterward to see if the writers/directors are from there (they aren’t).
Interesting buildup, lots of questions and mystery growing throughout and then a big WTF? sort of shift to a nutzo, balls to the wall, bloody, violent climax.
No insults intended, I kinda liked the flick.
Complete bore fest! trailer was better then the movie itself! 2/10
wow, this was a sick waste of time. no one in this movie is worth rooting for by the end.
Creepy and… satirical horror, NOT paranormal. This movie isn’t to be passed on after a few minutes. It’s got a subtle social vulgarity that is not grasped until the closing sequence and even then, the messages linger. Perhaps women, more than men, will identify with it. It’s dark, but is it really not that far-fetched. Watching it brought many questions, which left me anything but sleepy. In fact, it left me very much ill at ease. Pierce Brosnan, Justin Theroux, and Ilana Glazer are perfect in their respective roles… This is nothing like Rosemary’s Baby and should never be compared to it.
Well, it is being compared to it. Did you get a look at the bit of ‘Trivia’ on the IMDb page?
This film is like a slowly swelling feminine nightmare. Definitely not a traditional horror film but full of terror nonetheless.
lol a swelling feminine nightmare hmmmmmmm hahahahah? Thanks I defo wont watch it then lmao….V
yeah well you made it clear about swelling. Being a man we think of it as swelling before the last week of hell in a month. something that explodes upon us lol. Thank you for your very cerebral update on it, Good stuff. might watch the movie now. See however how prejudice predicates things? I try to be unbiased. Try is the word….V
Quite the interesting premise. Blood, gore, paranormal… nahhh. Real life horror and a representation of rot in our culture via the mysogeny and systematic abuse and explosion of the female body, mind and psyche both systematically and unflinchingly is on full display… unless your eyes and mind are buried in today’s societal stereotypes. If you’re looking for ghosts and ghouls, you’ve missed the true point of this rampant horror.
Dark and twisted
Yeah,,, that was weird
