Sensing that trouble is brewing in the African kingdom of Zamunda, three long and prosperous decades after Prince Akeem and Lisa McDowell’s opulent wedding in Coming to America (1988), King Jaffe Joffer and Semmi drop a bombshell. Okay, this was cute. I watched purely for nostalgic reasons. I knew it wouldn’t be as good as the original. But it was fun to see a ‘family reunion’ of a surprising majority of the cast, not to mention the special guests. Leslie Jones and Tracy Morgan were hilarious.
Obviously not a 5 star like the original, but it’s still a pretty good sequel.
meh- wasnt that good but wasnt that bad -very lavish in costumes and colours -one time watch for me -eddie and arsenio playing the usual multiple parts - nowhere near as funny as the original 6/10 and one point is for the costumes
Sorry to say but this movie disappointed me, Good for a one-time watch but that’s about it. I love ‘80s movies, and I love watching the remakes, but so far I really haven’t found one that can stand up to the original. Got ready for a classic comedy starring Eddie Murphy and arsenio Hall, but ended up watching a PG13 Disney movie. Just didn’t have that classic touch that you would expect from a raunchy comedian like Murphy. Was hoping for that comedy feeling but ended up with his new millennial Disney feeling. The acting was not up to par and the story was lacking and rushed, but the scenery an costumes were lovely.. I’m pretty sure that’s where all the money went, other than the cameos.

Disappointing sequel. Big mistake hiring Leslie Jones. She’s not funny. Felt rushed and like everyone was just going through the motions. There was no spark there that the original had. At best, a 1 time watch just to see how everyone looks 30 years later.

I was skeptic but ended up enjoying this sequel. It was fun and funny with a wonderful cast. Crazy that its been 30 years and everyone still looks good, black don’t crack. Did well bringing up all nostalgia of original, but I will say they played it safe with the jokes because it was more raunchy in first.

This was a great movie. Don’t listen to all the cry babies out there. This is just as good as the first one. I enjoyed it, funny, and made me remember why I loved the first one so much.

25 minutes in and shut it off. Full of racist slurs against dumb, evil, and oppressive whitey. On top of that, not funny at all. Nothing like the 1st one. Think this comment is wrong, try it for 25 minutes.
All great actors, the costumes and sets were good but just totally predictable and bland. I also felt like they overplayed a lot of stereotype which i find annoying.
pretty good movie. i like it being a huge fan. remember to look at it from a 30+ year sequel… its pretty close to how it would be so have that state of mind watching it lol. still pretty good with all the old farts

Taking in consideration for everything that Eddie has done for the past 10 years, this is a pretty good film. Get past the first 20min and the comedy opens up.

Worth the watch. I didn’t come in with expectations that it would match or be better than the first movie. It was engaging enough that I didn’t find it boring or too politically charged. At worst, it might be for slightly more modern tastes than the original, but it wasn’t a disaster like some sequels are either.

An enjoyable sequel, but not quite as good as the first.

This was adorable. Love the female power this movie conveyed. Liked the direction the story took for King, Queen, and Bastard-Prince. Dialogue sure was not as free as the first Coming To America. The barbershop scene’s seemed rather ‘forced’. Like Eddie has lost his touch with those characters. It was a good sequel. Time to let it rest.
I actually really enjoyed this, with the exception of lesley Jones she is just cringe.
NOTHING will top the original! This was just…meh. It had it’s moments. A definite one-time watch, funny at times, but it let me down. Strange storyline & plot. Felt rushed, like they tried to fit in too many moving pieces at once.
Unfortunately, Eddie was in more than his share of stinkers.

I liked it. Was pretty good for a sequel. It would of been better if it was R rated like the first one though. Also without Leslie Jones. 7/10 but had potential for higher.
