Parts Don’t Work is a short, contemporary dance film (6 1/2 minutes). Shot in Cine RED, it is set in the now defunct Fun Forest Amusement Park in Seattle directly under Seattle’s iconic Space Needle. Many scenes take place on the rides. Our heroine grapples with her outsider status in relationship to a go-go booted, lipstick slinging Girl Gang. In lieu of dialog, Parts Don’t Work uses defined physicality, editing, cartoon-like Foley work and place to convey its narrative and distinctive world. |
