Roxanna was born in London to parents Aladin and Rebecca. Roxanna’s grandparents experienced safe haven in Britain respectively during the Bangladesh Indepence war and the Nazi persecution of Jews. Aladin’s parents are of South Asian and Middle Eastern origin whereas Rebbecca’s mother is of European Jewish origin. The documentary incorporates specially commissioned animation to dramatize the biographies of Roxanna’s grandparents and also mixes archive film with personal materials from the two families. The contemporary film footage is of Roxanna, her parents and grandparents. |
