We follow Private Detective Lacey’s quest to determine if women need emotional connection for optimum sex. Set on her mission by filmmaker Taylia Thistlewaite, Lacey travels from Australia to North America, the UK and Jamaica on investigations including women paying for sex, rent-a-dreads, the so-called cougar movement, romance dependency and society’s double standard when it comes to women’s and men’s enjoyment of sex. She also dips into her dictionary on matters such as women’s social history. Lacey returns from her journey at the beginning of the film and reflects retrospectively. With a voice over narration written in verse, A Woman’s Journey Into Sex weaves documentary footage within a fictional context to peep into the world of female sexuality.
