I came across Ramanujan’s story in a “Ripley’s Believe It Or Not” around 1976. He was touted as a genius Indian villager who came up with advanced calculus theorems completely on his own. I even recall their black and white ink drawing of him hovering over papers in a hut.

I’d always thought he died homesick in London, so I’m glad that his actual final days weren’t as I’d imagined.

Wow what an amazing human being, what an amazing and at the same time tragic story, there are so many what ifs and if onlys that that in itself is as mind boggling as what this guy could do with numbers ! enjoy.
