David is dealing with bullying at his new high school. He is also dealing with the sudden passing of his father. This is having a cumulative effect on his core self, causing depression and thoughts of suicide. The bullying is largely psychological and subtle, so the school administration is unaware of the devastating impact on David and are unable to truly address the issue. David finds a friend in a girl who isn’t swayed by the peer pressure to treat David as an outcast.
