Bruno Gachard is the sole teacher in the small rural primary school of Villeneuve in Vienne, in rural France. His students are drawn from the surrounding farms and from the shifting gitane community. This year, the school also has to cope with 10 year old Australian twins, Nicholas and Michael who do not speak French. The film documents six months in life of the school: from the July 4 fête to the Christmas party. It also provides an insight into “immersion” language learning as Nicholas and Michael develop fluency in the language. |
