Shot amongst the stunning backdrop of Indonesia, The Eighth Parallel tells the stories and experiences of five female Indonesian extreme-sport athletes. The athletes in this film—women aged 12 to 30 and consisting of two rock climbers, a motocross rider, a mountain biker, and a surfer—reveal their experiences of being a sport-woman in a traditionally male-dominated society and the benefits and challenges that come along with playing sport in their present social contexts. |
