Albrecht Roser, often called ‘The European Jim Henson’ was a marionette legend. A string puppeteer for 55 years, this documentary, taken in one shot that lasts for half an hour, walks us through the last exhibition of his work, while he was still performing, in his late eighties, before his tragic passing this April. Master puppeteer who transformed the art, began the German version of the international puppetry council and the first school for puppetry at the university level in Germany, he toured internationally 17 times with his puppet show, and taught students from around the world this most magical and loved art form- the string marionette. The film was shot in the German puppetry museum overnight by his prized student, NYU Tisch Professor, Yvette Edery, creator of The Foretoken Collection, upon her arrival in Los Angeles to attempt beginning a new life as a puppetry filmmaker in LA. |
